Peter List

Peter List in 1986
The Club was sad to hear of the recent death of Peter List age 91. Peter was a founder member of the Stowupland Club in 1959 and represented the Club in the Stowmarket and District Table Tennis League for many years, playing for Stowupland Skylarks and Stowupland ‘B’. He helped with coaching the juniors at Stowupland and was a member of the Club and League committees until the League ended and the Stowupland and Stowmarket Clubs merged in the 1990’s. Several of our current Club members will remember Peter well.

Simon Doney

The Club was also sad to hear of the death,  on December 7th, 2021, of Simon Doney, at the young age of 49.
Many remember Simon’s warm good nature (and tricky spin) in Monday morning sessions at St. Peter’s Hall.
Other commitments prevented his continuation on Mondays, while some of us would occasionally catch a brief word with him on a Friday evening on his way to play badminton at Stowupland. We missed him at table tennis.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to his family.

STTC Player wins Suffolk County Senior Closed Championships

Pumas player, Luke Davies-Stokes, who is undefeated in the Bury League this season, and has lost only once in the Ipswich league, won the Mens Singles Cup in a tournament dominated by the younger generation of players.

The exception to that rule was the losing finalist, James Skilleter, who beat top seed, Kian Burgess in the semis, and also won the Handicap event.

In winning, Luke went a step further than his older brother, James, who was the losing finalist the last time the event took place.

Luke also won the Mixed doubles event together with Isobel McGerty.

Dan Shelley who has also played for Pumas, in the league winning 2015-16 season, won the Mens Doubles alongside Kian Burgess.
